The BCCI’s Indian Premier League (IPL) is the most expensive cricketing tournament ever. It has 8 teams from various parts of India and every team has it’s share of national and international players. The teams are owned by eminent Indian personalities such as ShahRukh Khan, Vijay Mallaya, Preity Zinta and Mukesh Ambani. In short, this Twenty20 tournament is as big and as glamorous cricket gets.
Since almost all the bloggers are out of inspiration during this time of the year due to various factors, I thought I’d start ‘The Predict For the Heck Of It’ Contest. You must’ve seen various such contests on television where they ask you to guess the name of the team which you think would win the match and then they give you prizes and all. The Predict For the Heck Of It contest is also like one of those contests but as the name suggests, it’s just for the heck of it. Just because we don’t really have anything better to do. And who doesn’t like winning bets?
The Rules:-
This contest is open for everybody. You need not be an Indian. You need not know about Cricket or the IPL because you just have to predict. But if you do know the teams, it always helps. At the end of this post, you’ll find the schedule of the IPL i.e. which match is gonna be held on which day and all you have to do is predict the name of the winner in the comments on that particular day before the match begins. At the end of it all, the one with the maximum number of correct guesses wins. As simple as that.
The Marking/Points Scheme:-
- +3 for every correct guess and -1 for every wrong guess.
- If you wish, you can also predict the number of runs by which you think a team would win. If your guess is close enough, you get +5 additional points.
- If you get three answers correct in a row i.e. correct answers for three consecutive days, you get an additional 2 points.
- If you get three wrong answers in a row, 2 points will be deducted from your total.
The Booty:-
Now, you must be wondering why should you waste 30 seconds of your life in posting a comment. Well, if you do that, and if you win, I will link to your website or will mention your name on my blog right at the beginning of the sidebar for 2 weeks. A new post will be made acknowledging your win. People will congratulate you. Chicks will be all around you if you’re a guy. And if you’re a girl, I will be all around you. I mean what more could anyone ask for?!
So you see, it isn’t called ‘The Predict For the Heck Of It’ contest just for the heck of calling it that.
