I observe some things. I realise others.

If I keep writing posts at the speed I am, I’ma run out of material soon. So it’ll be back to the one post every 15 days thing. But let’s not think about that. Let’s just enjoy it when it’s coming. So, this post is about some observations I’ve made and some realisations I’ve had over the past couple of weeks.

Observation 1: I’m always a part of the coolest group in the class. Sadly I’m the un-coolest of the cool members. So it basically ends up with everyone greeting me just to know where the other actually cool members of the ‘Cool Gang’ are. I’m just the lucky guy who got a place in the cool gang only because the actually cool members needed somebody who could make notes, projects and other things for them.

Observation 2: When you enter college, you’ll find yourself shaking hands with every second person who passes by you. Best part is, you have absolutely no idea who they are and how they know you. But you still shake hands as if you guys are chaddi buddies.

Observation 3: You’ll find yourself nodding and smiling at people whom you absolutely hate or are jealous of. As soon as the person passes you by, you say ‘asshole’ in your head. And guess what? He’s doing the same behind you.

Observation 4: You’ll be standing in the college ground looking at a hot chick. A couple of seconds later, a very lame looking guy will come and start talking to her. Then, together they’ll go to the canteen. After some days, you’ll get so used to the ritual that you won’t even ask the question – “Why him? Why not me?”

Observation 5: There will never be any hot chicks in your class. They will always be in the other section. And they’ll have at least 3 girls around them at all times. And when you’re unlucky, you’ll even have a couple of guys talking to her. Basically, if you’re thinking you’re gonna talk to her when she’s alone, you might as well start finding a new girl.

Realisation 1: When you see a couple of guys walking together and holding hands, you donot point at them and laugh your ass off. It’s not funny.

Realisation 2: When your coloured communication teacher asks you to stand up, you don’t stand up and start singing the National Anthem. He’ll not really appreciate it.

Realisation 3: Asking for another sheet in a test while almost all of the class doesn’t know anything doesn’t do a lot of good. The teacher might like you but the students certainly won’t appreciate it. Bottomline is, the teacher is only there for one semester. The classmates are there for 3 years.

Realisation 4: Hoping that the maths teacher wouldn’t notice your accounts copy open when you’re sitting on the first bench doesn’t go a long way in proving your intelligence.

Realisation 5: Racing with your college principal’s Endeavour while you’re on your Activa and overtaking him 3 times from the wrong side isn’t the best idea you’ll have. You should rather focus on the road so you can turn on the turn where you have to turn to reach your college (wtf?). Otherwise you might just end up having to turn back and travel an extra kilometer. However, you will have the satisfaction of beating your principal in the race and bragging about it in the class.

P.S. – You totally have to download this new web browser for Windows called Google Chrome. It’s minimalistic, clean and fast. And I think it’s got pretty much everything that Mozilla Firefox does. And if you like it, go thank The Ruhi because her Tumblr is where I first read about it.

    so true.,.,
observation 5 too..only difference was that there were no hot chicks in entire college..
    i mean there were only 1 or 2 … :( :D

“There will never be any hot chicks in your class. They will always be in the other section. ”
The grass is always greener on other side. :)

“your coloured communication teacher” Come again????

“Bottomline is, the teacher is only there for one semester. The classmates are there for 3 years.”

Marks are there for entire life. extra sheet means I assume u r writing relevant stuff what ur classmates are unable to. More often than not extra sheet of relevant stuff means extra marks and as i said marks will be there for entire life.

“Hoping that the maths teacher wouldn’t notice your accounts copy open”
In my class hoping that even sitting on last bench doesnt work. :D I’m watchful like a hawk!! LOL

Hello brother :P Damn,i think you can have more girls if you are a girl, but no use i guess :P

and well a post once in 3 days is damn slow man…lol see my blog( no no i am not promoting it here! :P it is just that see the frequency :P )

  5. 2008 September 3

Observation 2 happens in our school too. Realisation 5 is fun – i remember when i used to go to school by car and end up racing with one of the english teachers (even though i wasn’t the one driving) :D

And google chrome is nice! I downloaded it as soon as i got on the comp today … looks like you’re quite in tune with tech stuff too :D

  6. 2008 September 3

observation 5 is my observation 1!!
    fantastic point noted….. sad naa!!??

  7. 2008 September 4

Realisation 3 – Its very true. But you could always take more sheets and make drawings. The teacher will have a good time reading those.
And the you can laugh about it later.

  8. 2008 September 4

Google chrome is awesome .. I’m lovin’ ittt ..

  9. 2008 September 4

You’re cooler than you think. You don’t need to be part of the “cool” crowd to be cool. :)

As for the hot chicks? I feel you. But I figure, what’s the worst that can happen? Like the saying goes, you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.

Linked you up, man, this seems like a cool read. Hope you don’t mind! :)

  10. 2008 September 4

    Hahaha… nice observation n realizations :)
Keep that in mind always :P

n yeah Google chrome is really cool! I am in love it now! :D

  11. 2008 September 4

Having started started college this year, everything else is so true except for the activa…….etc part. racing your bike with your college-mate’s car IS the coolest thing to be especially if you make him realize the bikes are much cooler than cars and not just a cheaper mode of transportation..

You really are a ‘Hot girl is more sober’ rather than a ‘hot girl is waaaay drunk’ kind a guy! :-)

Actually, I often had hot chicks in my class. They’re the ones who used to point and laugh at me. I’m sure you’ve had some do the same thing. :-)

Oh yes!! All the hot chicks are in some other class and for me – In other projects. :)
And have you noticed that the best of girls will be roaming around with the most Gadha boy.

  15. 2008 September 6

    @Realisation 4: lol. :D

And you overtook you principal?! That’s so damn amazing.

    Google chrome is totally cool.

Ah great article bro , i love your posts ! :)

btw , Google Chrome is just level alpha , you cant compare it to Mozilla Firefox in anyway . Google CHrome is a pretty descent efforts , though it has miles to go and if you didn;t know it has some scripts from Firefox itself :D

You can read more about in a article i wrote :)

http://lnexun.com/2008_09_01_archive.html —> try this link. It has a post on why it doesn’t stand up to the hype.

Since you allow the Cool Gang to decide your coolness for you, if they have chosen you, it had to be for a reason.
Personally, I would rather you don’t let them decide such things for you. Your college doesn’t seem to accept coolness. Being cool doesn’t lie in belonging to the right company, it is more a matter of … I dunno.
But we think you are cool.
    We love you!
    Rock on.

  18. 2008 September 7

    @Dabs: Indeed. Eh?

@Arvind: Ah yes, hat happens when it comes to engineering colleges. But you do expect some good chicks in bba/bca colleges. Moreover, if there aren’t any at all in the college, then it hurts less. But if there are some in the next class and not in your class, it sucks. :P

@Reema: My coloured communication teacher meant my communication teacher who is a coloured guy from I believe, either Tanzania or Zimbabwe.

And your logic is better than mine. So finally, taking that extra sheet was a good thing after all. I wonder why the teacher still hasn’t checked that test and given it back.

And LOL, am I glad or what that you don’t teach us? :P

@Vishesh: LOL, one post per day? There is no chance in hell I can achieve that. :P I’ve got to give it to you man.

@Sahil: Yes, that used to happen in school too but then our school wasn’t as big as yours is so we almost knew everyone. However, in college, everyone whether our year or senior comes and shakes hands with us so it tends to get weird. And the fact that most of the guys are of the same design doesn’t help matters much either. And we once almost banged into our Physics teachers’ Zen once. We were in a CR-V :D

Yeah, I try to keep upto date with the tech stuff. But I’m not too good at it. It’s just that Ruhi mentioned it in her post so I came to know. Otherwise it could’ve taken me days.

@Sanchit Guliani: Very sad indeed. Story of our lives.

@Xylene: Some idea, that! I’ma do it next time definitely!

    @Soham: Me too!

@Marc: No, I know how cool I am. I am a different person when it comes to real life. Therein I’m not cool because I don’t speak much. And only witty and outspoken people are considered cool. Moreover, I don’t know how to give it back to the people. That is why I become a joke.

Yeah, I agree with the second part. And thanks for linking me up and liking me. Of course I don’t mind! It’s a pleasure! :)

@Rekha: Lol yea. And you’ll notice these two years from now too. But you’re a girl so they might, er, differ slightly. :P

And yes, Google Chrome is cool.

@Tush: Yes, that is fairly cool as well. Btw, are you going to college now or not? Weren’t you preparing for CA or something? What’s going on with that?

@Dabs: LOL yeah, there is one like that. She’s a senior and although she’s not exactly hot, but I do have a feeling that she points at me and laughs.

@mystique: Yes, WordPress. This is the first time you’ve visited my blog, right? So welcome. :)

And yea, I’ve been trying to be more regular. Hopefully it’ll work. If it doesn’t, I’ll go back to being the old me. Doesn’t really hurt.

@Amit: Yes, that is so true. I’ve had two cases where some seriously hot chicks have been going around with guys so cheap and weird we won’t even talk to them. But maybe they’re fine with the chicks. I mean, at the end of the day, they’re the ones who are having the last laugh, not us so called cool dudes.

@Vasudha: Yes sir, I overtook my principal. Thrice. From the wrong side. And had him staring at me. :D

Google Chrome is cool, I agree.

@Weemundo: Why, thank you! Why didn’t you post a comment earlier?

I read your article and its great. Helps me understand the situation better. I had no idea about Google Chrome before I downloaded it. Hence I had no expectations and that’s precisely why I thought it was great.

You take care too. And keep visiting!

@Espera: I’m not asking you to make it your default browser and chuck Firefox. I’m just saying that it’s very light, fast and nice on the memory so you should give it a try. Exunclan are too techie dude, I’m not. I had no idea about the hype about Google Chrome. I thought it just came out of the blue. So when I began with it, I had no expectations what so ever and so it felt good. I’ve used Ffox for a long time so this was a nice change. I felt the same way when I used Safari for the first time. Moreover, I’m not a very heavy user who’d be affected by most things those people are affected by. Although this browser does tend to be annoying when it comes to Facebook. So it was just my idea that you could try it cause it felt good when I used it.

I think the Cool Gang chose me just because I was educated in a fairly good school and could speak fairly good english unlike most of the other people in the class. It further helped them that I was someone who would attend all classes and make notes. But yea, I like your idea better. I shouldn’t let them decide what’s cool and what isn’t. I think I’m pretty okay and that’s all I need. Moreover, you think I’m cool. And you love me! What more can I even ask for?! :P

Thanks. I think you’re very cool too. And I love you as well. Rock On right back.

P.S. – Is it just me or does your message and my reply make it look as if we’re so totally in love with each other? :P

    Ah. There, there.
I used “We love you” for that precise reason. =D

You see, now that you realize why they think you are so cool, you needn’t wonder any longer why they wanted you in. Haan, yeh baat alag hai ki you could hardly have written something like, “Oh, I’m so cool. I’m always in the cool gang” and not come off sounding a little loopy. =P =P

Safari … I used it once. I have forgotten about it. But I think I liked Mac. I like Opera. And Exun is the geek club of our school. I’m member of it. Yay! Yayyy! But even I had no clue Chrome was supposed to be hyped. *Grins*
You see, the essence of what they had written was that Chrome is good. But it doesn’t have anything extra-ordinary, nothing creative or really unusual for a browser. I probably will give it a try. But for the most part, like you say, it doesn’t really matter which browser I’m using as long as it works. Properly.

  27. 2008 September 10

I disagree with observation 1. You’re pretty cool yourself.

observation 3 is so ZOMGLOL and ZOMGsotrue. I do it all the time!
Observation 4 holds true the other way round too.

You actually did the national anthem thing? Or just your dumb classmates.
And oh yeah, you topped that test didn’t you, try to make your handwriting smaller.
So where did your principal go, if it wasn’t the college?

@espera–You’re a member of the exun??? WOW.

Actually Google Chrome is okay. And to correct you, it does not have many things which FF has. The main thing is add-ons and other customizations.
There are plenty of add-ons which make FF great.. may be you have not used them… This option is not there at all with chrome.
Only thing is, its lite on resources. But it does not have many things… may be when its fully packed with functions, it will be as heavy as other browsers. I guess ppl are going gaga over the browser just because its by google or they were using plain old IE6 for ages.

  33. 2008 September 15

@Soham: Yes, I did check that out. It was good. :)

@Ferri: Yeah, I noticed. WordPress was spamming them for some strange reason. Yeah, I’m pretty adjusted to college now and its pretty okay. How’s yours?

@Mahi: Yes sir, I actually raced my principal and I’ve got to hand it to him. He drives rather well. And you should see his car, its always spanking clean. He loves cars. Girl friends as in GF or as in girl-friends? GF, No. Girl-friends, yeah, some. Seniors mostly.

@Tush: Ah, that life sucks, pretty much. Reminds me of the 12th days. Subah tuition, then school, and then fir tuition. How do you do your self study with all that? And what are you gonna do with the CA training? I’m sorry I don’t know how it goes. So please enlighten me.

@Lemonade: This post was made keeping you in mind. No hindi, you see. :P No wonder you loved it. :P :P

Yeah, observation 3 still holds true. It happens at least 5 times everyday. You greet people warmly and go asshole when they pass you. It’s funny.

College is going fine, even without the hot girls in my class. There are always other classes. And seniors. :D

@Balu: Nah. But come to think of it, one of them might just do a good job at it. I’m not suggesting it to him though. Last thing I need is someone taking away my limelight. :P

@Espera: Yeah, I gedit. You like your loopholes guarded. You said “we”. Didn’t let me go all Calvin and Hobbes on it. Shaani kahin ki. :P

Yes, I’ve heard things about Exun. And it’s a great thing that you’re a member of it looking at the kind of things they do and the levels of competitions in which they participate. I wouldn’t be able to stand 2 seconds in front of one of the Exun people. And anyway, I’m not a geek. I’m just too vague in life. I don’t have a clue what I’m interested in. I do almost everything half-heartedly.

I think I was being very impulsive when I said Chrome was great. I mean, it looks good. And its pretty fast. But the end of the day, I’ve gotten back to using good old Firefox. But yea, maybe Chrome could be the next Firefox when they do come up with support for extensions and all.

@Prachi: Lol, does Ishmeet always write this kind of posts? :P Guess he does.

I’ve had a great start yeah. And I don’t have a clue what’s coming next. What I do know is that there’s Miles to go and beat my principal before I sleep. :P

Good thing you mentioned the new url. I had started wondering where you’d vanished to.

@Tush: Yeah, Federer did win. But that’s a usual thing. Hence, no celebrations. And anyway, I never really got the time to make a post about it. I’m getting lazy and college is getting crazy.

@Adi: Thanks for liking it! I visited yours too and loved it. I have subscribed to it and will reply in the future.

    Chrome is cool, indeed.

@Nids: Thanks for disagreeing with number 1. I have a new observation related to the groups I get into.

Lol, yeah, I know. Ever wondered why we do that though? And 4 happens the other way round as well? I haven’t really seen any lame chick going around with a seemingly “hot” guy in college. But then again, maybe our definitions of hot guy and lame chick vary.

The National Anthem thing, that was my classmates. I would never do that because I’m way too country-respecting. It was a funny thing to do but then, not with your National Anthem. No, I didn’t top that Accounts test. I got a 10 on 15. I don’t know what was the highest. I was thinking I was gonna top the Communications test, but even that didn’t happen. I guess I should stop thinking too highly of myself and get down to actually working my ass off for the Mid-Semester Exams.

Our college has two campuses. There’s a 1km distance between them. My campus comes first. The guy went to the other campus, and I did too, following him. Then I had to go back.

@Sameer: Thanks for the correction. I actually agree with your point now. I do use extensions but I didn’t realize their importance immediately when I started with Chrome. But I did have to come back to FFox eventually because life is hell without the extensions. So yes, you have a very valid point, and I agree with you completely.

  34. 2008 September 15

ok here’s your “enlightenment” – There are three exams to be a ca first the c.p.t. ie. the entrance. i cleared that .now the next one is p.c.c. which is after 2 years of clearing the entrance.so my attempt is on in may – 2010. and if I get through it ill be eligible to appear in the final one which is another one-and-a-half year after that. Officially the ICAI (institute of chartered accountants of India) says that to be eligible for appearing in the pcc you need minimum of one-and-a-half years of training experience. Now whats training???Training is the practical of what theory we have mugged. It is getting employed under a present CA and doing whatever he does.Basically you need to know the word of a CA for that.
you must be knowing that there are thousands of businesses across the country.each one of the pays its income tax every year. Now the IT(income tax) department cannot themselves go and check the accounts of each and every firm out there. So its here that the CA steps in.he goes and checks the accounts the business has maintained, calculates its profit, calculates the income tax payable and compares it with the income tax payed by the firm.
Now checking the accounts is not a small deal.all the bills of sale, purchase, etc are verified to be true and then the profit and loss statement is made.
so we auditors(the guys like me on training) go to the business/firm check the smaller tasks and then give the final statement to the CA we are working under.
so that was the training part.in order to give the PCC and the final exam you need to have two and one-and-a-half years of training respectively and then only you can appear for the examination. I THINK YOU GOT AN IDEA OF WHAT TRAINING IS. still and doubts be free to ask them.
