The shoes, The tag and The Ruhi.

First up, I’m completely out of inspiration and this post might end up being extremely boring, tiring and blah. Don’t blame me afterwards.

The Shoes

If you know me well, you might be aware that I’m crazy about Converse All Star shoes. Crazy as in Krazzier than the four Krazzy people in Krazzy4. And I heard that people went completely Krazzy after seeing that movie. So in a way it served it’s purpose didn’t it? Anyway, so, I was saying that I’m a sucker for Converse All Star’s. Till now, I had only one pair of Converse High Tops which were blue in colour. And I’ve been wanting a new pair of shoes for quite a few months now. So when my Nani came visiting this time around, she gave me Rs. 1500 to do some shopping for myself. Now, out of these 1500 bucks, I was supposed to buy 1 pair of jeans, a couple or more T-shirts and shoes. Yes, I know that sounds insane but my parents were actually pretty sure that I could manage to buy all that within the 1500 bucks. And well, to think about it, if I had gone shopping with them, my dad would’ve managed to get it all within the allotted limit. But that would’ve meant buying Action shoes, a pair of jeans from Reliance Super Store and the T-shirts from some local shop. We’ve got one called “Baba Papa” in here. And with that kind of a name, you can totally guess what the quality would be like. But I wasn’t gonna buy all that, I had different plans. I had been eyeing these Converse All Star shoes at a showroom in one of the malls in the city for a couple of months now. So now that I had the money in hand, I decided to go and buy them. As luck would have it, they were sold. So I went to Pyramid Stores in the same mall to hunt for some good shoes. And I found another pair of Converse All Stars. As soon as I saw them, I fell in love. Yep, I can fall in love with shoes. Can you?

So these were flaming red in colour and the best thing about them was that they were double skinned as I’d like to call them. The upper red part of the shoe can be rolled down to show a blue part which has “Converse” written on it. I’ll put up pictures a little later so you’ll get the idea. There was also a Blue with Yellow combination but I knew I wasn’t gonna buy that because firstly the yellow was cheap and secondly they were looking too ordinary. I wanted something completely out of the blue. Earlier, there were only two people on my tuition who used to wear Converse. One was me and the other was the chick who banged into me as mentioned in the previous post. Mine were blue and hers were either blue or black. But now I’ve beaten everybody. I don’t think anyone would even consider wearing red coloured Converse High Tops at my tuition and that serves my motive. I may look silly or dumb but hey, at least I wouldn’t look ordinary.

My mother, as the following conversation is gonna show, wasn’t too pleased. Here goes:-

Me *rousing mother from her afternoon sleep*: Mom! Look! Tada!
Mom *all sleepy*: Eh, what?
Me: My new shoes! Converse!
Mom *making a face as if she’d eaten a green chilli*: Ouch!
Me: What?!
Mom: The colour! It’s hurting my eyes.
Me: Pfss, why do I even ask you people? You’re old and you don’t know fashion!
Mom: Ya right, chal jaa, sone de.
Me *opening and closing my mouth like a fish*: Yeah, right. :|

The following Calvin and Hobbes strip (Click on it to enlarge) says it all I tell you.

But it’s okay, I don’t blame her, and I don’t bother! It’s photo time!

The favorite TV Shows

So Perx tagged me long back to do this favorite TV serial thingy. Here goes:-

1. Drake & Josh – Because it’s effin’ brilliant. Gotta love Drake, and Josh. And on a bad day, maybe even Megan. And Mindy, and Mom, and Dad. Does anyone remember Baaaab the sheep? :P

2. Sarabhai Vs. Sarabhai – Easily one of the best Indian comedy shows ever. All the actors are impeccable in their respective roles. Ratna Pathak Shah is just too good.

3. MTV Roadies – I’ve figured that there’s nothing great about this show. The Roadies are ordinary people..some even below ordinary and at some points it gets plain vulgar. But that’s kind of what makes it fun too. Goo Shimmran! :D

4. Cartoon Network – I’ve watched quite a few shoes on this channel so I’m grouping them as one. Favorites would be Transformers Armada, Dexter’s Laboratory, Captain Planet, Tom and Jerry and The Powerpuff Girls because of Mojo Jojo!

5. Captain Vyom – Now this was an old show and it used to air on Doordarshan I believe. But it was pretty advanced as compared to the other serials during that time. Used to feature Milind Soman as Captain Vyom.

6. Shaktimaan – Okay, I might criticize this show now but it used to be a personal favorite when I was young. And I used to think that the Government of India was conspiring against me because either the cable or electricity would always go during Shaktimaan time which I believe used to be 12:00 AM every Sunday.

7. Who’s line is it anyway? – It was funny! I don’t think I need to say more.

8. Kaun Banega Crorepati – It was an interesting show. And though I’ve always maintained that SRK was as good as Amitabh Bachchan in his version of KBC, I can’t deny the fact that he wasn’t half as impressive. But then again, I think that was because the show had lost the novelty of it’s concept by then. Even Amitabh wasn’t anything great in the second season of KBC.

9. The Week That Wasn’t with Cyrus Broacha – I make sure I watch this every week. Cyrus Broacha is one guy who can squeeze humor out of any darned thing!

10. Koffee With Karan – All said and done about Karan’s personality and sexual preferences, this was a nice little show. Especially when Karan had witty people as his guests. The episodes with Shah Rukh were always priceless.

The Ruhi.

The other day, The Ruhi had wondered why I’d linked to Ashish three times. So I promised The Ruhi that I’d do the same for her. So, do you people know who The Ruhi is?

The Ruhi is a lady who lives in the United States of America and she’s one of my first pals. I remember leaving a comment on one of The Ruhi’s bollywood related posts and that’s how The Ruhi and me became friends. The Ruhi also has a blog on Tumblr which she updates regularly. The Ruhi’s real name is not The Ruhi. The Ruhi was also known as Cotton at one point of time. The Ruhi likes ShahRukh Khan like I do. The Ruhi is pretty busy with studies and all these days and hasn’t been blogging much. The Ruhi is also a big fan of Harry Potter and during the time when the last book was getting released, The Ruhi’s blog was the hub of all Potter related news. The Ruhi has also been known for her hate towards Microsoft. When she isn’t working, The Ruhi likes to watch movies. The Ruhi is very straightforward with her movie reviews. The Ruhi also likes reading books. The Ruhi says that I’m her favorite commentator. Basically, The Ruhi loves me and her boyfriend is gonna come and kick my ass anytime soon. And now I’m running out of things to say about The Ruhi. And The Ruhi is gonna kill me for that.

Tassali hui kya, The Ruhi? Or should I write another essay about you – The Ruhi? Bol na The Ruhi? Mogambo khush hua kya?

Currently Listening: Rekha Bhardwaj – Namak Ishq Ka.

@Nids: Yeah, I can. I’ve fallen in love with shoes quite a few times. And whenever I fall in love with them, I just have to buy them. The same however doesn’t apply to the girls I fall in love with. :(

And what do you mean by you’re the girl? Are you trying to tell me that only girls can be crazy about shoes and accessories? If that’s the case, then you’re mistaken. Big time. Bada waala mistaken.

You might wanna try Drake and Josh since you used to like Hannah Montana you know. I think you’ll like it. And Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai is very nice..very unlike Indian comedy shows and hence very refreshing.

    And yes, I know I’m unbelievable. :P

@Vasudha: OMG YOU! Now I need another 1500 bucks. :/ What colours do you have, btw?

    @Xylene: I genuinely hope so. :D

ooh love your new shoes! if i had a boyfriend i’d go make him get one pair of those. ;)

haha… talk about link overlove. :P

I have red high tops, black back cut offs, and normal blue ones. :D
    Mwahahaha, btw. :P
You need 1500 [1299?] only for the high tops, the normal ones are for 799, and the cut offs are for 699. Bachat karo. :P

@Sulz: Aren’t Converse popular there in Malaysia? They’re a rage here in India, in Europe and in the States. Almost every “cool” person has to have one pair of those! Added benefit of making me your boyfriend btw..I already have two pairs of these. :P

Link Lurve, or overlurve..it should make a person happy that’s it. And The Ruhi still hasn’t commented.

@Vasudha: YOU HAVE RED HIGH TOP’s TOO? :/

But mine are the double layered ones and I figured I just went about and bought the most expensive one they had. The double layered High tops cost Rs. 1700 but they were on a scheme and I gave away an old pair of shoes and got Rs. 300 off. It was good because those shoes never fitted anybody in the house. The regular High tops were for Rs. 1299 yeah..and I could’ve gotten them for Rs. 1100 in the exchange offer. And I like only high tops. I need a black pair now to complete my basic collection..I guess I’ma buy a regular one. What are the cut offs like? Never seen them.

I understand the obsession with converse, mostly because I have one of my own. My collection used to entail a pair of all black Converse, one jean blue pair, one original black, one black high top and a pair of red high tops…. but now I just have the red high tops…. the others got all raggedy and worn, which i would of used them anyway…but it was back in the day when my mom used to “clean” my room and she through out all my old worn out shoes. left me with the high tops and a black and white skull canvas shoe. damn her! I miss my black high tops! they go with everything! :(

I’ll kill you! on second thoughts, maybe not. ;) i guess i do like him, even though i don’t admit it. and even i love whose line is it anyway? :) Koffee with Karan is silly. i can’t tolerate that guy. he’ really…gay. plus all that gossip is way boring. but i do like the SRK episodes. i try to catch them on youtube. heard that he’s going to host panchvi pass or something? it’s based on a TV show that’s aired here. we also get board games based on the original TV show. :D

I’ve never seen a guy gush over shoes like that. :| And what’s so great about these shoes anyway? :/ I’d never wear ‘em. I prefer joggers. Actually no, honestly, I prefer sandals.

Drake & Josh is just okay…. I don’t get why people like it so much. :/ Sarabhai vs Sarabhai rocks. Whose Line Is It Anyway! *thumbs up*. Milind Soman was not Captain Vyom. It was some other guy who looked like him.

The Week That Wasn’t. Again. *thumbs up* Love it.

Looks like you’re getting a lot of commentlurve from Ruhi in return. :P

@Shaivi: Thank You. Waise different means achcha waala different ya ajeeb waala different? If you think they’re way too jazzy then tell me no..I don’t want any nakli praise. :P

@NighWriter: OMFG, you had 5 pairs of All Stars? That totally beats all of us black and blue. You’re the new Converse Queen! I’ve got to agree that these shoes are really cool because they’re comfy and they go with almost everything. I’m not really one of them party guys so I might just wear them anywhere. It’s like a style statement. Sadly though most people in here don’t know the brand. They just think these are regular canvas shoes and that annoys the shit out of me. Also many Indian companies have started making shoes which resemble Converse in a big way but cost lesser. And quite a few people have bought those. But nothing beats the thrill of wearing an original pair of Converse High Tops if you ask me. :D

@Ruhi: Yes Sire, 25 pingbacks. You actually counted those? I thought I had done lesser. :P

Why would someone wanna deny liking SRK? He’s cool man. Agreed Bollywood is not something a lot of people are proud of and that he is a major over-actor, he’s still cool. It’s sad they don’t show Who’s Line is it Anyway in here anymore. And Koffee with Karan wasn’t bad. Those episodes with Rishi Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Rakhi Sawant, Mallika Sherawat etc were quite funny. But then there were boring episodes too..a lot of them. And I know Karan’s mannerisms are annoying but I choose to ignore that. However it’s unignorable in the award functions.

SRK is doing a show called “Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?” from the 25th of April. And yep, I know you have that show in the US, I’ve read about it. It seems interesting and I hope SRK does a decent job. He’s gotten 40 darned crores for it.

I’m really happy you like my shoes! :D Makes my purchase worth it. :D The WordPress gallery feature is really cool agreed. I had been wanting to do something like that for ages. Even though it has some annoying features but overall it’s brilliantness. People have been crying and cribbing about the new WP dashboard and not many have really tried to see the nice things about it which is sad since the guys have worked really hard at it.

@Trojan: LOL thank you! And thank you for visiting! I wonder why that comment didn’t get automatically spammed though. First it’s your username and then the name of your blog. Both are rather spammable. :P

But I’ll visit your blog, and I’ll comment.

@Bharat: Dude, you’re different. I’m not. I love the shoes, so I gush. I’m still a kid at heart and these shoes are like the new coolest toy for me. You get the vibes right? And I can’t wear sandals. For some reason I hate them and I hate showing my feet around. :P

People like Drake and Josh because quite a few of them are like Josh and are wannabe Drakes. The females who’re troubled with their siblings are wannabe Megan’s. But anyway, it’s a lot of fun, that show.

Milind Soman was Captain Vyom man. His name was there in the starcast and I’ve seen an interview of him wherein he’s mentioned Captain Vyom. So he is it. And I can recognize him well. I’ve seen him 10 thousand million times in the “Made in India” by Alisha Chinoy waala video.

Ruhi btw has completely outdone me. She just gifted me a CSS upgrade. And I fainted from the shock!

they have the Converse look alikes here in the U.S too, but you’re right nothing feel and looks better than the one, the only, the original. :D and as soon as the bills are paid I’m going to buy me a new pair of High Tops, the black ones, and maybe the new checkered ones too… ooh! and the ones with skull heads! man I can’t wait!

and lol, thats 4 comments from ruhi against your 25 links. lol. i really wanted to see what she says, but she didn’t say she’s gonna kill you so thats my pocket money saved coz i would have sponsered her.

i saw half an episode of drake and josh and sarabhai and thats as far as i got in both cases. i also like my family in that bbc channel, is it?

  19. Posted April 18, 2008 at 10:59 am | Permalink

Ok that’s how I used to go on seeing GIJoes. No, that used to be worse. [I have a feeling I'll still gush if I get a new GIJoe. :|] That’s also how I go when I see a sword. So yeah, understandable. :P

As I said, Drake&Josh is ok but it can get over the top. I used to watch it, not anymore though. :P

I just checked. Milind Soman was indeed Captain Vyom. Darn. My bad. *hits self*

// I’ve seen him 10 thousand million times in the “Made in India” by Alisha Chinoy waala video.//

    LOL at The Ruhi.

  21. Posted April 18, 2008 at 2:05 pm | Permalink

I have seen such shoes earlier but thought that they might be too expensive. But they look quite cool. And red do look good with certain combination of clothes. Sahi hai, Ish ki to nikal padi. :)
I have watched a few episodes of Sarabhai and I really loved it. Is it still on air? Star one?
And this “The Ruhi” part is too good. Main abhi isse office main padh raha hoon, and everyone was looking at me ke why am I laughing like crazy.

  22. Posted April 18, 2008 at 2:20 pm | Permalink

@NightWriter: I need a black pair too, but I might not buy High Tops this time, they’re way too expensive. Too bad we only get the normal ones here. No checkered or skull ones. They may be having those in bigger cities but not in mine. And I just realized that Converse is owned by Nike.

@Nids: Ah yes, how could I have forgotten! You don’t like red! Then your not liking them is justified alright. I won’t argue on it. But okay wait, don’t you like red as a rule? I thought it was only for Ferrari’s that you didn’t like red.

You didn’t like either of them did you? And what’s that about my family in the bbc channel? I don’t understand what you’re trying to say.

@Ashish: Precisely it was Rs. 1400 for the shoes. I still have the 100 bucks. And actually they were for Rs. 1700. I got them for 1400 because I gave them an old pair of shoes as an exchange offer.

Yeah, I skimmed through what you did to my meme. Will just go read it again and comment. Nice avatar btw.

@Amit: Nah, Converse aren’t very expensive. These are the high tops so they cost more. The regular ones are between Rs 700-800. And almost every shoe does cost that much these days..unless of course you go around buying Bata or Action. Those you can still get for Rs. 500 or something. And you can always get cheap variants of Converse which are made in China. I can bet nobody would be able to spot the difference between them. I myself wasn’t able to when I saw them at a shop for as cheap as Rs. 300. I bought Red because red is my favorite colour after blue. And I already had blue ones. Red looks good with anything that has a tinge of red in it somewhere when worn with black jeans.

Yep, Sarabhai Vs. Sarabhai is still aired on Star One at something around 6:30 PM I believe. There are no new episodes though and I’ve watched all the episodes three times. And I can still watch them. Do you come home by 6:30? And you can always find them on Youtube anyway.

LOL about the office waala part. People must be really jealous and thinking ki bhai yeh banda kaam pe itna khush kyun hai? Zaroor boss ne incentive diya hoga! :P

  23. Posted April 18, 2008 at 2:29 pm | Permalink

@Bharat: Your comment got spammed earlier thanks to the brilliant e-mail ID you had entered. xyz@nowayjose.com. Yea, right. LOL

Yep, now you get the feeling. When I was younger, I had this feeling in three different things. One was remote controlled racing cars. Two was anything GI-Joe/He-Man related and three was Hot-Wheels cars. Now it’s pretty much restricted to gadgets and clothing.

And yea, I agree with you that Drake and Josh does get a little over the top at times. But tell you what, it isn’t half as fun without the Hindi dubbing.

I told you it was Milind Soman. I used to love that show man, and I’ve watched it quite a few times. Milind Soman was a rage back then..he was considered one of India’s sexiest and most wanted guys. He used to have the best body. Of course that was before the John Abraham’s started coming up. Now everybody’s got a six pack and it’s becoming redundant. The next big thing is gonna be some fat guy who decides to get into acting I tell you.

Made in India and a song called “Didi didi” something were two of my favorite songs during childhood. I used to run naked all around the house to catch them on TV I’m told. :/

Yeppers, CSS Upgrade. Now I need to look for some cool themes and check out the ones Ruhi sent me.

Reminds me of the time when I got those shoes with lights when you walk for my b’day from my parents after my favourite red ones sole’s were torn. I want new red shoes! Waaah! :D

Yes when I am lucky, I come home at exactly 6.30 :)
Even I have seen a pair of shoes sometime back and I wanted to buy them, but I had already spent something like 5-6 thousand on my other greedy habits, so I told myself ke “Lagaam doooooooo”. I have those heavy woodlands right now which my friends find too heavy to even look at. Wo sub sochte hain ke main inko pehenta kaise hoon? But I love them. :)

I Totally can !! I have blue converse right now and after seeing those photos I soo wanna get the red ones too ! Looks hot man ! I’m sure you’ll be creating a statement when you go to your tutions. Converse is so IN !

TV shows : Drake and Josh rule ! I was totally smitten by Drake Bell when I first saw the show.
    *Blush*
I love “I found a way”. Have you seen the movie : Drake n Josh go Hollywood ? What about “The Superhero Movie” ??
My Other Fav include : Scrubs, Prison Break and Bing Bang Theory ! :D

    Btw,You’ve linked “THE” RUHI 21 times !! Way to go ! :P

KINDRED SPIRIT! I lurrrrrrrrve Converse! When I was at Someplace, they were so bloody common! Every kid in my class had at least three pairs and I had just taken two along from home. So, I went ahead and blew up 100 euros to get two more pairs. My mother nearly died when I told this to her on the phone. :P
But all the desi guys that I knew there said that All Stars were too tomboyish and not meant to be worn at 19. Hmph, what do they know? They had just gone mad seeing girls in 5-inch heels I reckon. Anyhoo, here in India, there are hardly a lot of people who wear them and everyone likes my pwetty All Stars! Yayness! :D

And I SO agree with the Roadies thingie. Some of them are just so downright dumb and personality-less that you wouldn’t even feel like talking to them outside.
And it’s Ashu who’s gonna win. Prabhjot is second and Nihal is third…or so say my friends who are still dumb enough to waste their time on Orkut.

Namak Ishq Ka? OMG! My eternal fav! I’m not kidding. People generally assume I’m being sarcastic when I call it my favourite but this song is chingmingphingzing awesome! What lyrics, man! I know them all by heart!

PS: You better watch out because I just loaded my Uranium Gun and I’m going on the hunt for brand new All Stars…for free…to Ludhiana. Muahahahaha.

The cut offs, which I can’t find anywhere on Converse’s online directory, are what my friends like to call my backless All Star’s :P They look like the normal ones were slashed in the back or summat. iLove. :D I usually change the laces to match with my tee, and I like to think they look pretty cool. :P

  33. Posted April 19, 2008 at 4:58 pm | Permalink

@Shaivi: Exactly! That’s the entire point of the whole thing. When you feel good in something you’re wearing, you can almost always carry it off. What’s been up these days btw?

@Ashish: Spending 1500 bucks on food is easy. Just go to Park Plaza, have a buffet and poof, the money’s gone. But seriously, I’d prefer shoes to something I’m gonna excrete the next day. I know those light shoes! I created quite a ruckus at home when I wanted those. And I did buy them, but the lights died soon enough. Go and buy red shoes btw, they’re cool!

@Amit: Great, then you might be able to catch it sometime or the other. It’s worth watching. I like Woodland shoes a lot. The ones with the big soles right? I really looove them because they’re very comfortable. I was planning to buy either Puma or Woodland if I didn’t find Converse. But I was completely wrong about Puma..those are really expensive. Bloody 2500 bucks for a pair of shoes doesn’t really seem worth it. Aage hi gharwalon ko 1400 sun kar heart attack aane waala tha.

You’re right yaar. India mein YouTube chalaane ka koi fayda nahi. Buffering and all saara maza kharaab kar deta hai.

@Nids: Ah okay so that’s the reason! Everything in my room is blue and almost all the furniture in our house is close to Maroon. But I haven’t really gotten fed up with it. I hardly spend anytime at home outside my room. And since blue is my favorite colour, that doesn’t annoy me.

    And I didn’t start GI-Joe’s this time. Don’t blame me. I’m a man. :/

@Priya: Yay, you like Converse too! Get the red ones man, they’re nice. Goes really well with black and all. I wonder why everyone says it’s a girly colour though. I think it suits guys as much.

And I wore them to the tuitions the other day. Nobody even noticed. I wonder how people can e so vague in life! :/

Drake Bell is cool. I can understand you getting smitten by him. He’s awesome with the guitar..I’ve heard all the songs in his album and they’re good. Plus his hairdo is just brilliant. And Yep, I’ve seen those movies.

I haven’t seen Scrubs, Prison Break or Bing Bang theory though. What channel are these aired on?

@Drenched: Yay, you luurrve Converse! :D

Euros eh? That means someplace is someplace in Europe right? *gives the smug expression* Yea, Converse is common in Europe. That’s where I first came to know about them from a Romanian friend of mine called Razvan. He used to love them and they used to have profile pictures of them wearing it and I’d wonder what the big deal was. Then I saw a pair and I realized. They’re just adorable. And I don’t think there’s any age or gender as far as Converse are concerned. And if you ask me, girl wearing Converse is hotter for me than a girl wearing heels. Girl wearing heels can turn out to be dumb. There’s a lesser chance of that happening with girl wearing Converse.

The Roadies crowd has been going worse every time. They’re supposed to be physically fit and all but these guys aren’t. You can’t just select them on the basis of an oral interview. The only thing they’re good at is bitching. And yea, my Orkut friends also keep telling me that Ashu’s gonna win. But earlier they were saying that Nihal would be third and Shambhavi second. So I don’t really think anybody knows. And quite frankly, they aren’t even comparable to Rannvijay and all the people who were there in the first episode.

I looove Namak Ishq Ka! It’s a very sexy song for me. Mum says it’s got cheesy and cheap lyrics but I love them! And I love Rekha Bhardwaj, she sings soo well. Do you remember that previous song of hers called Tere Ishq Mein? It was absolute brilliantness too!

P.S. - I have to come to Chandigarh on the 27th of my AIEEE exam. And if any of my shoes go missing, I’m gonna return home with four more pairs of All Stars. I’ve got a Einsteinium gun btw, nobody beats that guy! :D

@Perx: Converse All Star’s is a company that makes canvas shoes and they’re pretty popular. Google “Converse” and see what Wikipedia has to say about it. You’ll get the idea.

@Nik: Nope, you’re not. I’ve got friends who don’t own Converse shoes. Happy?

You want me to do you a favour btw? I’d be more than happy to do a piece on The Nikita! :D

@Vasudha: I haven’t seen backless Converse shoes in my life ever. But I’m sure they’d be cool. But that should be all girls shoes right..I don’t think guys would wear them.

  34. Posted April 19, 2008 at 5:22 pm | Permalink

I’ve seen guys wearing them :|
And I want grey camouflage print Converses. My mum doesn’t want me to want them, though. She doesn’t want to give me the money to fulfill my wants either. :|

Oh, and if you are being so generous, The Vasudha doesn’t mind standing in queue too :P

  35. Posted April 19, 2008 at 5:32 pm | Permalink

@Vasudha: You have?! Gee. I don’t think I’d wear them. But then I need to see them first to decide. I can’t really figure them out like this.

My mum doesn’t want me to want any more crazy coloured shoes now. She wants me to stay away from all kinds of shoes for at least a year.

The Vasudha is added to the list of people. Congratulations! :P

My light ones lasted for quite a while. Like a year or more, just had to replace the batteries. Aladdin on your shoes with lights, what more do you want? :P [

Hey … don’t flatter yourself, red high tops aren’t all that unusual. Maybe the situation’s different in Ludhiana, so I guess I oughtn’t comment.

    Funny you didn’t list:
    Full House
The Suite Life of Zack and Cody
OC (everybody seems to do that. I don’t like it all that much)
DIl Mil Gaya (same as above. I haven’t ever seen it)
And all of AXN’s shows. They are awesome.

wowers! new theme… I like, except for the pink links, but I have my own issues with pink so never mind…. really? nike owns converse?! huh…. never knew…. and you guys don’t get the new designed converese over yonder? that sucks, cause they look oober wiked! :) uh oh… where is the submit button?! ahhh! gonna take a chance and just hit enter…

Sahi hai bidu. Formatting is a little off. And don’t forget to send me the CSS so that I can use it too ;) Oh, and don’t forget to praise me some more in a new post! :P

Wah wah! Bahut badhiya sirji.. :) Me loving it.

@Ash: Alladin ain’t gonna grant my wishes. I want Genie on my shoes and I also want that my shoes should work on solar power so that I never have to replace the batteries! :P

@Espera: Yep, you oughtn’t. Things are very very different in Delhi. Almost every person in my city is a Delhiwaala wannabe. And I figured I was overdoing it anyway. I’ve seen at least four people wearing Red high tops in two days. So I guess I was just blissfully ignoring them earlier.

I’ve never watched Full House. I’ve watched some episodes of Zack and Cody. It was reasonably good. I’ve never watched OC. I dunno how I managed to forget LOST in that list though. I wouldn’t ever watch Dil Mil Gaya or whatever. The chicks watch it because of some really hot guy in the show. They luuve him. :/

I’ve watched AXN’s shows alright but I forgot them. Guiness used to be good, and also Ripleys Believe it or Not. I wasn’t ever a Fear Factor person and they have an obsession with making people eat weird things. And I hate that.

@NightWriter: Yep, Nike owns Converse. Converse went bankrupt and Nike bought it in 2003. All Converse shoes are now made in Indonesia.

I was fixing up the theme when you left the comment. This theme was very different in it’s original form but I changed almost all the colours and a couple of other things here and there. And I fixed the Submit button too. Thank You for telling me about that or I wouldn’t have noticed. How do you like it now?

And nope, we don’t get the new designs of Converse in here. Not in my city at least.

@The Ruhi: Thank you, thank you. :D

    ish,

sorry boss, writing something irrelevant to this post. I am with Kolkata Knight riders only coz of SRK…and with Mumbai indians.
New template ekdum jhakkas hain !!

  43. Posted April 20, 2008 at 9:34 am | Permalink

    NOBODY noticed ?? :O
Then that must be a real lame place with real lame people !!
Red Converse are not girly !! Pink ones are !!
I’ve seen some girls wear Pink converse ! Come on !

Drake !! Aaaah !! Yeah, his hair !! His Fender guitar !! His Dumbness !! LOL, everything.

Hmm..well, I think you should checkout “The Bing Bang Theory”, Zee Cafe, every Thursday, 9 pm I guess.

P.S.: Whats with the new theme ?? :O

  44. Posted April 20, 2008 at 10:17 am | Permalink

Yeah, sure. I have enough narcissism in me to enjoy that. :-D

(Ooh. I don’t have to do the bloody dare you sadistic, perverted git….*cheers* *does the dance anyway, for the shear hell of it*)

@Anoop: I can understand. Even I’m with KKR only because of Shah Rukh. Otherwise I was gonna support Kings XI due to regional preferences. I actually was supporting them until they lost yesterday. Good you like the new template. :D

@Priya: Nope, nobody noticed. I guess they were too busy studying to notice someone’s shoes. The entire deal is that its just too overstuffed with kids in there. And they dunno what style is anyway. Converse will need another year or two to catch up big time in here. And then everyone will wear Converse. Just like everyone wears low-waist jeans these days.

I’ve seen girls wearing Pink Converse too. But those are light pink. I’ve not seen anyone in darkish flamboyant pink. And these red ones are gonna go maroon in a few days anyway with the kind of pollution and dhool mitti in here.

Drake’s guitar is enviable. His entire character is enviable actually. Every guy wants to be a study like him at school. You won’t find many who wanna be Josh. Josh is the better actor, just for the record. I will try watching the Big Bang Theory this Thursday then. Though I don’t really know if we have Zee Cafe or not.

@Nik: You did the dance? And you didn’t even tell me when you did? I don’t even get to oggle at you stripping. Not fair! :|

@Ash: I’m glad you like the theme. I wanted to customize the header too but that’s gonna be a little difficult for me so I gave it up. I’m happy with the way it’s turned out. It’s gonna be a disaster the day my photosharing website goes down though because all the images are uploaded in there. I think I should upload them to WordPress and redo the stylesheet. It might even be faster that way.

    The emoticons are back. :D

And Ambani ain’t gonna beat SRK. KKR for teh win! :P

Oh, and I don’t mind Converse being manufactured in Indonesia either. It’s just that I wanted to emphasize that it began with being an American company with factories in America and now it’s ended up not having any factory there and being manufactured in Indonesia.

Or maybe you CAN flatter yourself and assume that you set the trend for red high tops. Hmm.
Well, how about the Amazing Race? It was really amazing. That’s one gameshow I really really erally want to be in.
Then there’s 30 Seconds to Fame.
Fear Factor wasn’t ever that great. But yeah Ripley’s was awesome! I remember how I didn’t sleep one night after I saw an episode of the world’s fastest flesh eating bacteria. It was scary because the bacteria ate your flesh and you didn’t get any symptoms.
And you’re talking about girls watching DMG, I know boys who watch them!! In “luuve” with the hot guy? Quite possibly.
Why is everyone in your city a Delhi-wannabe? What’s so special about this city? I mean, sure it has that atmosphere and I love it here, but I suppose that’s only because I live here. Most people have a crush on Mumbai.

  60. Posted April 22, 2008 at 3:33 pm | Permalink

    Hey good one :)

  61. Posted April 22, 2008 at 4:16 pm | Permalink

@Dinsan: I did. And I fished them out too.

@Espera: I would be the last person on the planet to start a trend. I’m not that brave or extraordinary.

The Amazing Race? I think I remember it but I’m not sure. Maybe I’m confusing it with something else. Okay, I just Googled it. I was thinking right. It was a nice show.

Ripley’s was awesome yep, but it never gave me sleepless nights. India’s Most Wanted and Aahat did though. India’s most wanted because I became paranoid and started thinking that the criminals would attack me. And Aahat used to be genuinely scary. For a 10 year old, yep. And there are many closet saas bahu watching guys around. They just don’t wanna commit.

Delhiites are considered cool. Delhiites are good at English, wear branded clothes and know their fashion. Delhi has a lot of good brands, restaurants and bars. And fast cars, and Metro. So everyone wants to be a Delhiite. I for one love the Supreme Court and all them other governmental buildings which are maintained. And the Mumbai fever is old now. Everyone knows Mumbai is over filled with people and not as good as far as infrastructure is concerned. Mumbai’s sole claim to fame has been Bollywood and the music and TV industry. That’s why people had a crush on it. For non TV people wanting to be cool, Delhi is the place.

Yes, well, I never manage to set trends either. Wearing mismatched earrings is okay. Everybody loves that, but no one is actually willing to follow up on it.
Haan, but weird nailpolish designs (like checker patterns) did catch on among some of them. Not too widespread, I’m afraid.
Maybe I CAN claim to have started the androgynous clothing trend. Or maybe that’s just my taste. And it’s a co-incidence that the international fashion weeks have begun focussing on them.

Look, it’s the capital, that is to be expected. But what makes you think other cities don’t have fashion brands or can’t speak English? If Delhi were that cool, a few more rock bands would have done gigs here. Every cool band - for example the Iron Maiden - is always performing down south.
I love those buildings too. The PArliament, the Mughal Gardens, the Lodhi Gardens, CP and even Jama Masjid. Have you ever been to any of these places?
I’m completely in love with Delhi. But what do you expect? I live here, duh.

  63. Posted April 22, 2008 at 11:54 pm | Permalink

@Espera: Well, people don’t believe anyone amongst them can be cool enough to set a trend. They only think that everyone is good at following trends created by them stars and all. So when you try something different, you’re told that you’re looking like a fool and are a wannabe. So you never do that again. Setting trends in here is one tough thing to do.

That’s not my opinion. That’s everybody else’s opinion. I for one love to think that I’m as good at English as any other Delhiite. Well, leaving quite a few that is. But I’m pretty positive I’m reasonable. And I seriously haven’t been able to figure out why Delhi doesn’t have gigs happening. One issue is security and space. Second issue is that the bands and all are told that people are more into English music down south and towards the east. That’s just one big misconception. And it’s sad because whenever some cool artist comes and I wanna go visit the concert, it always gets cancelled because they don’t come anywhere close. My folks aren’t willing to spend that kinda money on a stupid concert. If it were happening in Delhi, they might have let me go watch it.

Yep, I’ve been to all those buildings. My dad was born in Delhi and studied in DPS too. So basically we belong there. Then for some unfathomable reason they decided to come here. I was born here but Delhi is like a second home to me. I’ve been there quite a few times. And I think I know India Gate more than I know my house. When I was small, I used to go there on every trip and every day. The Parliament and Rajpath is just amazing. It’s like you’re in some other world.

    The trend thing?
You don’t have to do something as drastic as change how you dress or take up weird fashions that you know are stupid.

Do something with confidence and something you genuinely like and people can never make fun of you for standing up for something very strongly that you really believe in!

    Really? SO you’re half-Delhiite?
    Awesome!
Toh yahan agli baar kab aa raha hai? HAve you ever actually met Nidhi didi in person?

  65. Posted April 23, 2008 at 5:34 pm | Permalink

@Espera: Okay, a couple of trends I’ve set are naming the teachers. I name them and everyone adopts the names. They tell me I’m good at them and that I’m good at imitating. Maybe I should become a stand up comedian or something. Who knows, it might just work?

I’m part Delhiite, yep. Agli baar I think would be something at the end of this month or early next month after the AIEEE exam. I haven’t met Nidhi didi in person, haven’t even talked to her ’cause she refused to give me her phone number. :| I haven’t met any Blogger I know in real life. I came to know all you people after my last visit to Delhi which I believe was umm very long back.
