Why do I blog?
A nice question isn’t it? Well, go and thank Cat for it. She came up with an interesting idea of a Blog community writing project wherein a blogger can write about “Why he/she blogs” or “Has blogging changed him/her”. You can check it out here and submit your entries before Sunday, the 18th of November, 2007.
Now, why do I blog? My reason for blogging has changed over the years. I started it because my friends told me I’m good at expressing myself. Also, during those days, every cool person had a blog. Hence I thought I should too! When I first began, I never thought I’d actually have people reading me. I thought this was another thing I’d do in my life and discard it some months later like I did with some of those social networking websites and even the messengers. It isn’t very easy to keep me interested if you’re not a hot chick, you see(lol). When I began, most of my writings were either about my discontent with my family situation or about the current issues and some other random stuff. I even made a post on how you could make Maggi Noodles(lol)! During those days, I’d be elated when some 5 people would read me in one day. Mostly they would be my chat buddies but there were some who had come from various search engines as well.
With time, I started getting addicted to ‘penning’ my thoughts down. Well, not exactly penning. It’s more like typing. During this period, the posts started becoming more commercial. They would be about popular events, T.V. shows and softwares. And the hits did start coming big time. I got around 2000 hits when a dance show called “Nach Baliye 2″ was about to end. I distinctly remember seeing my blog stats in an internet cafe because my own computer was broken in those days. During this time, I got comments from other people who had a blog too and I started visiting other blogs and seeing what people write about. After reading a couple of Ruhi’s posts, I made a post about Atif Aslam who is a very popular Pakistani singer. This post was to show how his video had been stolen from a Rasmus’ song. However, it ended up becoming an Atif appreciation corner and I got over 200 comments. I still get comments from crazy girls who want to marry him. It’s only now that it has started getting lesser hits. By the way, Atif is sporting a Green Day look these days with black pants, white shirt and a short tie. All he needs is about 10 million layers of black eyeshadow and then he can look like Billie Joe Armstrong. Now, I have never really been a cars and bikes person but I did make one post about the Bajaj Pulsar which is the highest grosser of hits even today. Indians love to love and hate their vehicles I tell you. This was the period during which this blog had reached it’s most commercial state ever and got the maximum amount of hits.
After all that was the third and last phase. During this phase, I discovered many other bloggers who became great friends and also saw my writing style changing as I got inspired by other writers. The number of posts were lesser but they were not very commercial anymore. They were getting increasingly personal. This phase had posts about how I hate school and the education system. I have increasingly been talking about D in my posts. I have tried to have a balance between hits and quality. I don’t say that I won’t make another post for hits. I would but that doesn’t mean I’ll turn this blog into a news and download website. It’s still basically a 17 year old hopelessly in love guy’s blog at heart and I hope that it shall remain like that. Btw, did I tell you I finally asked D something the other day? I asked her the time, she told me and then I ran away. I can’t stand her looking at me because her eyes seem to melt my insides. I don’t think she thinks a lot about me actually, I didn’t quite fancy her expression. But as they say, you never stop trying till she’s said no and slapped you in front of 125 other students.
Therefore, I blog because I love to do it. I love to share my life with the friends I’ve got and I love it when they leave me comments and give me suggestions. I don’t think I’d ever be able to survive if I was asked to stop blogging and leave me friends. These are the people who know me inside out and this is the place where I laugh, cry, fight and do so many things. Life is unimaginable without |=Dead End=| and that’s why I blog. And I rest my case.

Damn…you don’t mention me -cries.- Lol. Not really upset with you but nice to see why you blog. You can prod me thursday evening to do this when I’m less stressed.
i first blogged because people were doing it, and i write better than i speak. then as i gain regular readers, the focus of the blog became more on garnering more readership and maintaining what readership is there to begin rather than being so self-indulgent. of course, i try to be reader-friendly and self-indulgent if it’s possible, depending on my life. ;)
i’m so glad i took up blogging, and secretly at that because i learnt so much about myself and it’s given me a real esteem trip!
Oh you finally asked her for the time? :P You’re progressing slowly! Only if she knew the number of posts you’ve written on her…she would definitely be floored. LOL.
You asked her the TIME!!! That is an achievement! Onwards young Padwan! :P
that was a wonderfull post..
well , i started blogging not because i could express myself well( infact,i feel i lag far behind when it comes to penning down my thoughts..(
Frankly ,it was boredome that urged me to try this new thing and now i am really liking it…
So Finally, you managed to talk to her..
that calls for a celebration..
next time ask her to clarify some doubt . :P
Well done on asking her the time. :)
And thanks for taking part. It’s interesting to read how you got to where you are.
Happy Dwali! :-)
awesome post ish!! very well said!
maybe u should just casually mention ur blog to D..and then she could get to know u through it which would make the whole plan of her falling for u very simple, because frankly who wouldn’t fall for u after reading ur posts!
Well said,
.. and we love to read! :)
@Sha: Well, I didn’t really mentioned anybody. Only Ruhi and that I did because she was one of the reasons that I made me most popular posts. I’ve already mentioned you in the other post so rest in peace lol.
@Sulz: Yep, that’s pretty much the same story.
@Ruhi: Only if she knew. *sobs*.
@Ash: Young padwan?
@Arvind: Well, I need to have a big enough doubt to ask her first lol.
@Cat: Thanks for holding the project, it was a pleasure to participate.
@Dabs: Happy Diwali to you too!
@Lemon: Haha, that’s a neat idea. That’d be like..I just go to her and say “Hey, you know you should visit my blog, I’ve made so many posts about you that will make you fall in love with me. The URL is …” If only, I could say that much lol. I don’t want to commit anything. If I say anything in written or tell her about the blog, she’ll basically have me chained and naked in front of her. I don’t think I want that lol.
@Amyth: And I love to reply to your comments! :)
hmm… how do you know she hasn’t yet read your blog? coz i remember you mentioning somewhere here that you sent her a friend request on orkut. if you’ve specified your blog url on orkut (like most of us do), there’s the chance she might have ended up here (and read all that you’ve written about her)…
interesting reading how you started blogging… i started doing it coz a friend of mine was, and back then, if you were an avid blogger, google’d give you gmail invites, so it felt like some uppercrust or something like that. i’ve come a long way since then, and am very much addicted to blogging and monitoring blog stats now. it’s not something i can’t live without, but it’s something i prefer living with :)
@wanderlust: No, I never sent her an orkut add request. I don’t even think she has an account there and even if she does, I wasn’t able to find it. So basically I’m presuming she doesn’t know about it. And I haven’t put my blog URL on Orkut because the people in there are my real life friends and I believe in keeping my alternate identities separate. Nobody on Orkut has a clue about this blog.
I didn’t know about the Google invites. Some friend of mine had sent me one.
no.. the google invites was only initially… in 2003, i think.
@wanderlust: Right. I think I got myself one around 2005.
And I haven’t put my blog URL on Orkut because the people in there are my real life friends and I believe in keeping my alternate identities separate.
Completely agree which is why you don’t find my blog on myspace/facebook. Great minds think alike! :)
>did I tell you I finally asked D something the other day? I asked her the time, she told me and then I ran away. I can’t stand her looking at me because her eyes seem to melt my insides.
I doesn’t matter the result. You are getting brave. This is what counts most.
