New Policy, Updates and Thank You’s

My exams have finally finished and it is now time that I write a post about all the new things I have planned for this blog and also as promised, this post shall also contain a speech which was due after I had achieved 200,000 hits. You can get an idea of how long this post has been due. It was supposed to come the day I achieved the hits and I’ve been postponing it so much that now I’ve gotten another 10,000 hits after the 200,000. Let’s roll then!

Thank You people!
When I started this blog in March 2006, I had never imagined myself writing a post thanking people for visiting my blog and leaving comments on what I write. Now comments have become such a necessity that every time Mozilla Firefox initializes, the first page that I open is my Gmail account and what I specifically search for are e-mails from WordPress informing me about who commented on which post. This is followed by opening the blogging and replying to as many comments as possible. After all this is done, I open the Google Reader to go through all my feeds. And finally when both Gmail and Google Reader have nothing new to offer, I go around doing my other work. Blogging has been a great experience for me and that’s not only because of the hits but also because of the interesting people I’ve found and the friends I’ve made. If it weren’t for these guys religiously leaving me comments, I might have lost the interest in blogging and would not have been here making this post. I’ve shared every thing, every single feeling and all the nooks, crannies and crevices of my life here on this blog. I’ve made posts expressing my frustrations with the education system, my hate for God and religion and also of my crushes, love interests and practically every perverted or non perverted feeling. I’ve got a good amount of advice from my readers on how I can deal with the small issues in my life and all that is greatly appreciated. There have been posts I’ve written for my friends to read. There have been others which I’ve made for myself to read in the future and there have also been posts which have been purely for hits. Luckily for me, all these seem to have worked and I’d like to thank Atif Aslam and the entire Indian Television fraternity that have been responsible for over 2/3rd of the total number of hits I’ve gotten. However, it’s the remaining 1/3rd that I cherish more because these have been from those who’ve read about what I actually am.

As far as naming people goes, the list would get very long if I try writing about everybody. Therefore I’d just like everybody to know that I appreciate every person who ever bothered to read and/or comment on anything I’ve written. I’ve already told many times about how it all started and how Elena and Razvan shifted to WordPress and I followed suit. At a particular time around November-December 2006, I actually started looking for other blogs on WordPress or on all other platforms. It was then that I found most of the people that make up my blogroll today. I remember finding Ruhi from WordPress’ top posts. We had both managed to make it to the first page on WordPress.com through our Bollywood related posts. During this period, I also found Cat and became very impressed by her “Save the Vowels” movement. I’ve been reading her blog and she’s been reading mine ever since. Also during this time I found Ashish. I don’t really remember what led me to his blog but I think it must have been some technology related post. Through Ashish I found Shani and then there was no looking back. We’ve had a number of jokes amongst and on each other including “The GeekWrestler and the Bisexual Vampire Chick” which still happens to be one of Sha’s top posts. I’ve also had great friends in these two guys and I believe finding them was one of the best things that happened to me. Also during this period I had visited Sulz’s blog a couple of times. Her superb flowery template had always attracted my attention and I had thought that she was one of the WordPress administrators since she had a custom template. Eventually I figured it was a Custom CSS update. I kept reading her blog and eventually started commenting and we became friends. She’s got a very distinct style of writing and the honesty of her posts and comments is what makes her what she is. Then one day in my stumbling, I managed to reach Lemonade’s blog. As soon as I looked at it, I thought it was unreal. And I still maintain that she’s got one of the most beautiful blogs I’ve come across in my life. If I had a blog on blogger, I’d surely be using one of the template’s she’s made because she’s actually very good at that. Finally recently I found Poonam and in her I’ve seen a real activist. She believes that she can actually make a difference to the world and that’s what most of us lack. We don’t do anything thinking that it wouldn’t make a difference but if we try, other people join in and eventually a movement is formed. It was a movement that got us our Independence and it was a movement that got Jessica Lal justice. What I like about her is that she gives a normal person’s perspective on global problems and informs people about how they can actually make a change to this world and to their own lives. And I cherish her comments because she thinks good for me when she says things.

If I missed out on anybody, I’m really sorry. Make sure you manage to land here and smack me till I do a full post about you. No really, I love all of you who have visited and commented. I’m nothing without you.

Updates
There aren’t many updates. Just a couple of new things here and there in the sidebar. Also for all the people in my blogroll, almost all of you have new tag lines. So you can check ‘em out and appreciate them or curse me for what I’ve made out of you. Don’t mind though, they are just for fun. Also I have made two banners which you shall see in the future posts. One of them is personal and one is professional. Personal for the usual posts and professional for the ones made for hits. Hence now you can easily see what you want to read and what you don’t.

New Policy
Recently I’ve figured that a little bit of scheduling can do wonders in your life. Therefore I have decided that in a week, regardless of how many personal posts I make, there will be one post with links like most bloggers do and I will also try to fit in a post for hits. My aim is to manage 4 professional posts in a month. Hence I will try to follow the schedule and see if it works for me. But don’t worry, that doesn’t mean I’ll sacrifice the personal posts. They are the original motive of this blog.

That’s about it for right now. Adios guys!

Update: Though I was thinking I had managed to name everybody. I’ve got three smacks on the back of my head already! I forgot to mention Nova a.k.a Neha. She’s currently in Hong Kong, is loving Madhuri Dixit and hating Vaibhavi Merchant. What I like about her is that the posts are direct dil se. She doesn’t worry about anybody and manages to express her emotions really well, something that takes me a lot of effort. I also made a huge mistake of forgetting Adam, my co-writer and administrator at Thoughts and Opinions. Adam dude, I just remembered one thing..do you have any Eve? Third person I forgot was Jallu a.k.a. Jalal a.k.a. Mohammed Jalaludin(hope I got it correct?). He’s my co-techie and I’ll always remember that picture to picture installation instruction for the Windows Vista Transformation Pack that he had given in my forum. He was an active writer there and is an active commentator(is that what you call ‘em?). Dude, now you should really make a blog for yourself. I’m sure you’ll do a great job!

Anyone else I’ve forgotten? You can still smack me! :P

Awww Ish, you are so sweet :) One of my oldest and most loyal blog friends. I kind of miss those regular posts of yours. I hope your Boards/exams get over soon.

I remember when you had only 10,000 hits and had said that you want to make it to 100,000. And see where you are today? I love your blog. Keep up the good work!

  4. 2007 October 18

    hello ish!

i can’t help noticing that you said you read in google reader. that doesn’t technically make you a lurker, does it? so i can’t blame you for lurking……aaaargh! i do know someone does read my blog (via blog stats) :D

anyways, congrats on your blog success and thanks for reading mine!

  5. 2007 October 18

@Sulz: Wow you’re fast! As soon as I made this post, within 10 minutes you made the comment and linked me too! You’re great.

@Nova: Haha, thanks for the smack. I would have mentioned you too but it just slipped out of my mind. Will surely do that in one of me future posts. Till then, thanks for that smack cause it reminded me I had to put you in the blogroll. Smacks always work don’t they lol?

@Ruhi: First you called me cute and now you called me sweet. I’m getting good, right? Hihihi. And yes, I very well remember that day when I saw that many hits on somebody and said I wanted it too. It’s good to know that finally I did get something I wanted in life.

@Sanjida: Yes, I read all your posts for that matter. It’s just that I’m lazy and don’t really comment unless I’ve got much to say. But I’ll try and comment more. And Thank You for congratulating me. It’s a pleasure to read what you write, my neighbour!

Saying that. Sorry for the lack of emails just I’ve been swampped in work and decided communication with the outside world was not a necessecity at this moment in time. of course that will change next week when I do have time (hopefully because by the looks of my diary I’m fully booked with chemistry panick until 9th November and 14th November.

  7. 2007 October 18

And the school has banned Ash’s blog…I wonder why? Said something about illegal drugs.

oi…..gr8 post…..u could easily become a speech writer for ne politico….. :D ….seriously…it was good…and congrats on d 210,000 posts…..keep buttering us up and we will give u some more comments……

@sha:didnt i warn u abt staying away from d future tyrant of this world….now look what happened…..d emperor has dragged u into one of his many drug controversies…. :P ….and yeah…..“The GeekWrestler and the Bisexual Vampire Chick” post is always gonna be one of my favs……

  9. 2007 October 18

I just checked my reader..and yours is the first post I am reading today..when you replied back in morning your exams are over..I was expecting a post..and you did not disappoint me…but I was pleasantly surprised to see you write about me. That’s so sweet, Ish. For a small-time activist (uh, i know long way to go for activist) there are the honest, encouraging thoughts that inspire. I always say we all need motivation. And this was motivating. And you know what I am glad, I found you…I was so budhdhu when it came to blogging that…I never knew what blogroll was..or how linking can help…It was much later I discovered I was on your blogroll..and then Ashish’s stumble..and then I updated mine…so I could say I learnt some blogging things from you, your friends in the blogroll…I must thank you guys… :)

And Thumbs up to your blog, Ish.

P.S: And it is smart thing to write about popular things..we require balance in life..both meaningful and entertaining..that’s why movies like Munna Bhai work and successfully give a message…and you must get so many hits for entertaining posts…only because you write well, and you write because you genuinely like them..why else do you think google still puts your Jhalak Dikhlaja season 1 post when season 2 is in progress..Mine still shows at end of page 1 or at page 2..so these are things you are doing right. Flaunt it. :)

  10. 2007 October 18

i did read through it and i cant find my NAME !!!

  11. 2007 October 18

For appreciation of the [future] Emperor of the World, His Geeked up Imperial Mightiness, The Geek Wrestler, I make you Super Duper Poultry Minister with added pay and a once a year trip around the world! :D

One of the things about you that makes me come back is that your writing is superb. The english matters and I like Cat don’t stand txt blogs. Here’s hoping that we all stick around for more years to come! :)

Sha: Well tell your school that I’m selling illegal drugs to the students. lol. I’ve never even MENTIONED illegal drugs on my blog but it must be because of my Rated R tag. Hey I need a place to rant.. use your own network! :P

Jal: I warn you Jallu, don’t cha side with Hermy Perera! I make war on thee and thy shall pay. Oh and btw, what coincidence, I’m listening to Rise of the tyrant! lol. :D

@Sha: I can understand what you mean about work. I haven’t been e-mailing either. This is what life is all about. That’s why I wanted some way we could talk because of these time clashes. And I guess your school has finally realized the threat that Ash is..after all he’s trying to over take the world isn’t he?

@Jallu: First thing, I’m sorry dude I forgot to mention you. Will do that in the next post. And as far as being a politician comes..I’ll say what Shah Rukh said at the HT Leadership Summit. “I’m too selfish to be a politician..and moreover..I’m too good looking”. Lol and I’ll keep buttering you..Amul waalon ke saath contract kar rakha hai.

@Poonam: Everybody learns from others. I’ve also learned a lot from you. Mutual benefit as they call it right?

@Ash: LOL that was some actual appreciation. Haha and now I get even more chicks being the super duper poultry minister. Yay!! And finally, someone noticed that RSS feed button! Thank You, thank you..I think it looks good too lol. Ah, I’m so effin’ modest!

  15. 2007 October 18

@Adam: Oh Lord, I thought I’d covered everybody but I’ve managed to forget a number of you. No worries though, you know you’ve been important and I shall make an update in this post mentioning you. Me is sorry.

  16. 2007 October 18

jallu: Hermy Perera will never win! Hahahahahaha! And I challenge you to a Hell in a Cell match at Geekomania 1, lets settle this once and for all! :P

ruhi: Yeah, but the majnu is wanting YouKnowWho! [ish, you banned me from speaking her name right?]

  30. 2007 October 20

And dude, you need to change my alt-text. As far as I know NO ONE’s got the charisma, the skill and the power of the Geek Wrestler. I AM the [future] Emperor of the World and people calling me a tyrant [Jallu, sha] shows that! :P

I can’t speak her name [SheWhoMustNotBeNamed?] nor do I know her real name but she’s commonly known as the fourth letter in the alphabet and apparently her name starts with that letter. [YouKnowWho?] :P

@Jallu: I so wish it was interesting buddy, but at the end of the day if I don’t even say a word to her, how is it gonna help?

  37. 2007 October 21

@Jallu: We don’t have common friends. We’re not in the same class. We go to the same physics tuition where approximately 130 more students come. And on top of that, I’m over shy. Hence it can get very hard if you’re me.

@ash: what say you give him some members of your royal guard to protect him from any students after he piledrives the teacher?????

  45. 2007 October 23

Hey, I’m just happy to be here!

  46. 2007 October 23

@Jallu: I think she knows I exist, I’m not sure though. I don’t really know much about her, she’s very studious and is the only decent girl I’ve seen so far from her school. Her school is too strict to be cool but she seems okay enough. Actually the story in that post was very much inspired from me. It was our story that I had in mind when I was writing that.

    @mystarbucks: I’m happy you’re here too!

  48. 2007 October 23

@Jallu: Haha, I knew you’ll laugh at “our story”. Even I did. And well we’ll see what we have to do. And LOL I’m not that dumb that I’ll do pervy jokes in front of her..come on!

  49. 2007 October 23

@Ish- I think you’ll benefit from my experience here. There used to be this guy who used to like me a lot in the tuitions (11th-12th grade), when I was as old as you. I was definitely aware of him and used to secretly wish that he would DO something. He never did! Sigh…both of us moved on. We’re still in touch and very good friends though :)

SO go ahead and introduce yourself and talk to her and try to be friends. She won’t bite you, if she has some brains….that is.
