A couple of days back, I was sitting and thinking about the things that would remind me of my school days and would make me emotional. Amongst them, the most prominent happened to be the songs we listen to these days. We have started calling them our anthems. For some people, these wouldn’t qualify as music because these haven’t been sung by any professionals. These songs have been sung by an unknown Pakistani band and the others one have been sung by a group of students from an MBA institute in India. They contain words and lines that would be considered ‘bad language’ if used in normal life. The most prominent of them are Bhenchod(sisterfucker) and Machod(motherfucker). Another one is Gaand(ass). Even I know these words are not good, but then, that doesn’t mean we stop liking these songs. People fail to catch the real feeling behind the songs. If I offend any of my readers with this post, I’m sorry because it wasn’t my motive.
First one of our anthems has to be Sutta. This song has been sung by some group or band known as The Zeest. This song really cracks you up because it just describes a typical life in simple and comic fashion. You can’t listen to it in front of your parents because it contains the ‘magic words’ Bhenchod and Machod. These words are bad and are meant as abuses when they are hurled at somebody. But in this song, this isn’t referring to anyone particular. It’s just like saying ‘fuck’ when something goes wrong. Don’t many of us do that? Then why consider this bad huh?

The second song is Gaand Main Danda. This song sounds objectionable from it’s very name. But in reality, it’s one of the most well composed songs I’ve heard in my entire like. It has been composed by a musical band called bodhiTree from an Indian MBA institute which goes by the name of XLRI. It explains in how everything goes wrong when pressure surrounds you. In English, you would probably have called this song, “You got fucked!”.

The third song which is a little less known is Sabka Katega. It has been sung again by bodhiTree. This song talks about how we separate when education takes us our separate ways and seems to have a double meaning. Again, I think it’s a nice tune.

The fourth and the last song is XL Ki Kudiyan. This again has been sung by bodhiTree for all the girls in XLRI. When we found this song, we realized that it’s very addictive and we’ve sung it many times at our own schools and tuitions in front of girls. This is a song you can listen to in front of parents because it doesn’t have any bad words as such.
