Firstly, my apologies for having ignored my blog and not replying to comments. But now I’m back. This is a two part post. First part is CSSing Myspace and second is Sexy Cars (as if you hadn’t figured that out already!) So let’s begin :-

CSSing Myspace

The primary reason for my absence from here is that I’ve been learning a lot of CSS and HTML these days because that is essential for becoming what I aspire to become i.e. a Web Designer. It’s funny I had been conveniently ignoring it till now. So CSS isn’t as easy as one thinks it would be. It takes a lot of time and work in making websites look pretty and soothing. So the next time you visit a beautiful and helpful website, just take 10 seconds out to mentally thank the programmers and designers who made the website possible. In the past few days, I’ve learnt that a beautiful website is not always one that looks pretty, it’s actually a balance of looks and performance. A lot of designing and images only tend to make a website slow. The golden rule for making websites is – Make a website like you’re making it for the person with the slowest dial-up connection possible and only then will success touch your feet. I also learnt a number of other things and the most important one being JFDI – Just Fu*king Do It. This means that once you’ve decided upon doing something, switch off your e-mails and all other attractions and just do it. I learnt all this from this website called Web Design from Scratch. Then I did a couple of CSS Website making tutorials from WESTCIV and finally after all this and some other tricks, I declared myself a successful CSS literate. The next task I’d set up for myself was to completely customize my Myspace and with a help from a couple of places and 3 days of hard work, I’ve finished now. And I can be proud in saying that it has been completely hand-coded i.e. no Macromedia Dreamweaver or other softwares used. Only notepad and my keyboard. It’s not what you’d call very beautiful or neat but it’s very minimal and to the point. For others, it may not mean much but for me, it gives me a great deal of happiness to click each and every link on the website and then see it take me to the correct location. Ah, the joy of Web Design! Now, I’m going to release my CSS and HTML on my design blog so that other people can customize their Myspace’s and get rid of the lame design. That will take some more days because it requires some documentation and explanation and I’ll have to write that so even a n00bie can understand it. The code is very easy but I don’t think anyone can do anything about it without proper CSS knowledge and as I said, it’s not a very easy job unless you’re crazy about it and go around doing tutorials for 16 hours like I did. But now, I can give my arms some rest and bask in my own glory. And you guys can appreciate what I did. So, after much anticipation, I bring you…(amongst cheering and drum rolls)….

My New Myspace!!!

Sexy Cars

This part is less technical and more on the lighter and happy side of things. I have this friend who’s like 2 times as tall as I am. Yesterday, we were coming back from our Maths tuition and suddenly he said…”Oh Shit! Sexy!” and my eyes darted the entire place around me to catch a hot and sexy girl but there were none. I asked him whom he was talking about and he, still with a mesmerized expression on his face, said, “The Maruti Suzuki SX4″. Do you guys know what that is? It’s a god damned car! Then he confessed to me that he thinks vehicles are better than women and I just drove on with him all shocked and lost. How can somebody find a vehicle more sexy than a girl? It totally beats me. It’s not that I don’t think vehicles are cool but you can’t even think of comparing them to women. So the friend went on explaining the similarities and advantages of a car as compared to a girl. He said that a car is more trustworthy and works as you want it to. It stops when you want it to stop and goes fast when you want to, and a girl is always trouble. I was hardly listening to him because I have this nice way of disagreeing with people. When I don’t agree with you, I pretend I’m listening to what you’re saying but actually, I’m not. I’m pressing the “Ignore That Person” button mentally. We were fast approaching our homes and we go separate ways at a particular junction because his house is in the other direction. The entire way he went on about cars, bikes, engines and how he thought the new Bajaj Pulsar 220cc was so sexy. As we were about to part ways, I decided to throw my trump card. I said, “You know, a girl is always better than a vehicle because you can’t have sex with a vehicle!” And did that work? You bet it did, I loved the way his jaw just dropped and then we parted ways but I’m sure my one-liner totally threw the wind out of him. Damn, I’m just so good at times! (sarcasm!)
