The heading is just to earn more hits because yesterday I saw this post with the same heading on the “Top WordPress posts”.Actually in this post,I’m trying to show how we shamelessly copy things without thinking how much it could hurt the original artist.

Now,don’t you see the similarity between the two? Atif’s video has been literally lifted from the Rasmus one.There is total similarity in the stadium,the mic(both have the inverted bulb) and the way Atif pulls the girl out of the mirror.And believe me,if you’re a Rasmus fan like I am,you’d be wanting to rip Atif apart for doing this.I’m not a huge Atif fan but I do like the songs he’d sung namely “Aadat” and “Tere Bin” but that doesn’t give him any right to steal a video.May you go to hell for doing this,Atif.

This brings us to a very important issue of Plagiarism in today’s industry.Yesterday,CNN-IBN featured the same issue in one of their shows.It was really shocking to find the Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic blockbuster “Black” was copied from a 1962 movie! .Similarly Akshay Kumar-Salman Khan-Priyanka Chopra starrer “Mujhse Shaadi Karogi” has some scenes which have been literally lifted from Ben Stiller starrer “Anger Management”.Also great movies like “Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar” and “Sholay” too are copies.Is this what the directors do at the name of inspiration and adaptation? It is gross.

What we have started doing now is that we’ve started making remakes(official copies).We had Don,Umrao Jaan being remade this year and Sholay is going to be remade too as “Ram Gopal Verma ke Sholay”.Also,the Indian music directors have recently been in trouble for copying music from outside,the most popular incidence being Pritam copying “Kya Mujhe Pyaar Hai” from “Peter Pan.”

Is there no creativity left in us? Can we only copy now? What are we coming to?

I think there is still some creativity left with movies like “Lage Raho…Munnabhai” and “Rang De Basanti”,but this copying issue needs some immediate attention and we need to make stringent laws to stop this.
