Australian Cricket doomed? Guess not.
December 23, 2006
Now it’s official that Australia’s ace-spinner Shane Warne is set to retire from cricket after the next test match against England. He’s on 699 wickets and would definately want another one to finish his career on 700.In a career that has been full of success, controversy and girls,Shane has probably been one of Australia’s best players but it’s good he realised that it’s time to gracefully retire.Cricket will definately miss the spinning genius in you Shane.
With Shane retiring, there has been news that Australian pacer-Glenn McGrath is set to retire too.But then the news came that this would be after World Cup 2007.Now if both these players retire, then Australia’s strength would definately go down.If not much, but it will go down.So what do you think are the other teams’ chances on World Cup 2007?
Meanwhile here are some interesting articles about Shane and McGrath’s retirement. This one tells about Ricky Ponting expressing his concern and sadness over Warne’s retirement and This one depicts Adam Gilchrist showing his confidence on the rest of the players in the team and saying that they will still be the best even without Warne.

I wish Sachin would take a cue and announce his retirement soon. Indians are not in the habit of retiring gracefully somehow.
WC 2007? WI, SA, and Aus look good. Pak and SL are unpredictable as usual.
